The History of the Building
In 1926, Ned Jordan came from Ohio to open his Pinellas Auto Sales Company to sell Jordan automobiles. Marketed as “smart looking cars” for people who dressed smartly, the Jordan Motor Car Company gave its automobiles names such as the Sport Marine, Tomboy and Playboy. The building continued to serve the auto industry until the 1960s, when it entered a new life as a nightclub and restaurant. In
1993 John Warren purchased the property. As a former president of both the St. Petersburg Preservation Inc. and the St. Petersburg Historical Society, John appreciates architectural history and enjoys the stories older buildings have to tell. With an eye for detail, John has carefully restored the original tile floor, front canopy, and the tin ceiling. He then
added copper sconces, fine richly colored wood trim, and wooden shutters to the large windows. The walls received warm friendly colors and art. The location of the booths and tables was carefully chosen to ensure that the seating is just right and the lighting perfect. It’s an atmosphere designed to make each guest feel special. Now the carefully restored building and your dining
experience at Savannah’s takes on a historical ambiance. Vintage St. Petersburg is alive again!
